DAVISON — Lauren Finkbeiner, a senior goalkeeper for the Lady Cardinals soccer team, has signed her national letter of intent to play for Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Finkbeiner is one of five incoming freshmen who will join the Pioneers in the fall of 2011. The 5-foot-10 keeper is a letter winner and honor student at Davison.

“Lauren is a tall and aggressive keeper from Michigan,” said Point Park coach Mark Platt. “At 5-foot-10, she will push our current keepers and provide great competition and depth. She has great shot-stopping ability and is very quick to read the game in coming off of her line.”

The Lady Pioneers hired Platt in the spring of 2010 after he spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Walsh University. He’s a native of Wetherby, England. Point Park University sits in downtown Pittsburgh and is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the American Mideast Conference.
