FREDERICK D. FRED” KELLOGG, 91, of Davison, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 at home.

Fred was born in Flint, on July 5, 1922, the eldest son of the late Vesper and Mildred Kellogg. He lived his adult life in Davison, graduating from Davison High School. Fred attended General Motors Institute. He entered the military in 1943 and proudly served in the Tenth Mountain Division in the Mediterranean Theater, Rome, Arno and Northern Apennines Campaigns. Fred married Sophie Guerra of Las Cruces, NM, who was a loving and wonderful wife. He was employed at Buick Motor Division as a Supervisor of Plant #28, for 18 years. Fred became self-employed in the retail food sector for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He wintered in The Villages of Lady Lake, FL.

Fred is survived by his dear wife of more than 69 years, Sophie; and a very special family. Daughters, Barbara (Guy) Zehnder of Switzerland, Peggy Masters of Davison, Pamela Baird, Denise (Scott) McConnelee of Davison; son, Patrick (Carolynn) Kellogg of Traverse City; seven grandchildren, Laura Koon, Stacy (Tom) Bossi, Scottie (Christine) McConnelee, Troy (Natalie) and Melody Kellogg, Ashley Baird; nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Ellery, Sophia, Tommy, Olivia, Liam, Holly, Eric, Christian; sisters, Millie (Louie) Kosbar and Betty (Ted) Dipzinski; brothers, Henry (Doris) Kellogg and Rollo Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Heather (Masters) Brems in November 17, 2005 and never forgotten; sisters, Anna Rutter and Ethel Pyles.

A special thanks to Kenneth Hershberger, who loved Fred and was beyond helpful and deeply appreciated by all the family. Fredís wishes: SPEND LOTS OF TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, with Chaplain Hank Messing officiating. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, with Military Honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
