Former funeral home owner dies

Erwood C. “Ray” Raysin Erwood C. “Ray” Raysin DAVISON TWP. — Erwood C. “Ray” Raysin of Metamora, formerly of Davison, age 90, died, Aug. 29, at Jacob’s Ladder Assisted Living in Grand Blanc.

Raysin was the founder of Raysin Funeral Home, which is now the Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., which he sold to Wayne Allen in 1987. Erwood served the families of Genesee

County for more than 60 years as a licensed funeral director.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., today (Sept. 3) at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Pastor Todd I. Frusti officiating, with burial at Richfield Union Cemetery.

Erwood was born in Flint on Aug. 10, 1925 the son of the late: Carl and Amanda (Walterhouse) Raysin and has resided the area most of his life.

He was joined in marriage to Marion L. Lucas on Sept. 6, 1945. Answering the call of his country Erwood served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He is a member of Michigan Funeral Director Association, The Masonic Rite, Past President of Davison Rotary Club, former member of Davison Chamber of Commerce, and had served on numerous community committees and events.

He leaves his wife of 70 years, Marion, sons: Tom and Pat Raysin, Kent and Debbie Raysin, Mike and Cindy Raysin, and daughter Teresa Raysin. Also his loving grandchildren: Jeanette Raysin, Matt (DeAnna) Raysin, Chris Raysin, Shawn (Deann) Raysin, Stacey Jordan, Carl (Trisha) Raysin, Tiffany (Greg) Pleysier, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

Erwood is preceded in death by brothers Elwyn, Floyd, and Shearl. Those wishing to may make contributions in his memory to Autism Foundation.
