Bristol Road closed for maintenance operations

DAVISON — The Genesee County Road Commission announces that Bristol Road between M-15 and Henderson Road in Davison Township will be closed to traffic on Thursday, June 15, 2017 for replacement of a cross culvert. Work is scheduled from8:00am until 3:30pm. Motorists are advised to avoid the work area.

Eagles announce appointment of officers

RICHFIELD TWP. — The 2017-2018 officers were installed recently. Eagle of the year is Marv Nowland, Grandmother of the year is Teri Webber and Mother of the year is Marcy Fox. Eagle Rider of the year is Kevin Thomas. There was a special presentation to Larry Fromwiller and Jerry Crosby for more than 20 years each of being an officer. Also, Connie Harger, Stacy Goodar, Marcy Fox, Teri Webber and Evelyn Stewart were given certificates for not missing any meetings last year. — G.G.

Rep. Faris announces Summer Reading Contest

LANSING — State Rep. Pam Faris (D-Clio) has announced she will be holding a summer reading contest for students in grades 1-8. Contest winners will be announced on Sept. 14.

“Summer break is a fun time for students, but it is a fact that students lose significant academic skills during summer vacation,” Faris said.

The contest ends on Labor Day and is open to all local students in grades 1-8. Libraries serving students in the 48th House District will have bookmarks that also serve as entry forms. Online entry forms are available at faris.housedems.com. Students only need to write down the title and total page count of the books they read throughout the summer. All submissions must be received on or before Sept. 13. Mailed entries may be sent to Rep. Pam Faris, P.O. Box 30014, Lansing, MI. 48909-7514. Summer Concert series

GRAND BLANC TWP. – Grand Blanc Parks and Recreation is presenting its summer concert series to be held Tuesdays, at 7 p.m. at Physicians park, 218 E. Reid Rd. On July 18 the sounds of Detroit Audio Force (Classic and Southern Rock), on July 25th the Bugs Beddow & the Good Stuff (Soul, Rock, Funk) and Aug. 1 will feature All Directions Band (Pop & Rock Music for the 80’s-current).
