Veteran board member resigns

Board to accept resumes for appointment

After 17 years of service to the Davison Board of Education, Treasurer Kim Lindsay has resigned effective Monday, Oct. 9.

“It is with mixed emotions that I compose this letter,” Lindsay wrote of his resignation. “… I am thankful for the support I have received from the voters of our fine district, which has allowed me to serve them this past 17 1/2 years on this board. I am proud of the work that has been accomplished by the district during that time period.

“Davison is a destination district and will continue to be thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff, administration and board, and because of the tremendous support the District receives from this community. I hope our students will always know and feel that they come first and their futures really do begin at DCS.”

Lindsay is moving to the west side of the state to pursue new career opportunities and live closer to his family, which includes his wife, Pam, three daughters, all of whom graduated from Davison High School, and a grandchild.

“We will certainly miss Mr. Lindsay,” said Board President Kathy Sudia. “His financial expertise has greatly benefitted the district during these challenging economic times in public education. On a personal note, we will miss his great sense of humor, attention to detail and high level of integrity he exhibited while always putting kids first at Davison Community Schools. We wish him all the best.”

“Kim has been a dedicated and faithful member of the Davison Board of Education and we will miss the knowledge and integrity he has brought to the table,” added Superintendent Eric Lieske. “We wish him well in this new chapter of his life.”

Since Lindsay’s term expires in November 2018, the board of education will appoint a replacement to complete the term. Those interested in applying for the position should send or email a letter of interest and a resume to: Davison Community Schools, Attn: Board Secretary Karen Conover, 1490 N. Oak Road, Davison MI 48423 or rricica@davisonschools.org.

Deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20. — L.R.
