The Cardinals were at the East Lansing Invitational last Thursday, a meet where the races were split up based on grades. In the boys 9-10 grade race, the Cards finished fifth with a 119 led by Blake Church in ninth in 18:37.5, Lincoln Shirah was 22nd in 19:55.3 and Bick Martinez 28th in 20:31.2. Garrett Sumner placed 32nd in 20:40.2, Joey Scheistel 40th in 22:17.6 and Donovan Estes 41st in 22:19.6.

In the 11-12 grade race, Bryce Bates was 12th in 18:31.2, Zack Metzger was 13th in 18:34.4 and Jack Crandall 28th in 19:59.6.

The girls were third with 69, led by Grace Olson in 13th in 22:02.9, Elli Timmons was 14th in 22:07.9 and Ellie Crandall 15th in 22:38.2. Lindsay Dorman took 17th in 23:10.4, Madelyn Jacobson 24th in 24:41.2 and Katy Calleja 27th in 25:07.0. – B.P.

SOCCER

The Cardinals shut out Bay City Western 1-0 at Western Monday. Senior forward Thomas Alband tallied the lone goal of the match at 29:39. Senior Darion Ferrell assisted on the goal. Senior keeper Drew Fleming turned aside eight shots to record the shutout.

“We played really well in the first half, and generated some quality chances. In the second half things got real interesting, but the defense stepped up,” said Davison coach Wayne Wilson.”

SWIM

The Cardinals competed in a tri-meet at Midland Dow Tuesday, defeating Mt. Pleasant 99-84 and losing to Dow 135-45. Abigail Trombley won the diving competition with 162.75 points. Lydia Oppenheim finished in second place with 154.7. Johanna Osborne finished second in the 500 free in 6:20.29. Osborne also placed third in the 200 free in 2:17.37. Alycia Nikoloff finished third in the 50 free in 27.84. Maia Manley was the only other Cardinal to finish in the top three for an individual event, placing third overall in the 100 fly in 1:21.16. The 200 free relay team of Felicity Connell, Manley, Nikoloff and Opennhein finished in third in 2:02.45. — J.O.
