Letters to the editor

Thank you for all your hard work

Dear editor:

It was a steamy hot afternoon on Sunday, September 24th, at Jack Abernathy Park in Davison. That did not stop canine loving families and friends from attending the 8th Annual Davison Dog Walk. Once again we had over 30 animal rescues, veterinarians, therapy groups, and vendors participate. Thank you Davison City for again providing us with the beautiful park that helped shade us from the heat.

As in the past, we worked with a local rescue group to raise money and awareness for animals in need of medical care and “furever” homes. Lucky Day Animal Rescue thank you for partnering with us again this year. Your team of animal loving volunteers touch our hearts and reenergizes our passion for keeping the Davison Dog Walk a part of this animal loving community.

Support from local businesses makes this event possible. A big thank you to Animal Emergency Hospital, B – Dogs, Bachmann Financial, Cart Valet, Childs Veterinary Clinic, Davison Band & Orchestra Boosters, our DJ Katie Dienen of Dienen’s Siberians, Doggie Delight, Doogies Super Center, Dunckel Veterinary Hospital, Elixer Clothing, Forest Veterinary Clinic, Hank Graff – in memory of Clay, Larson’s Ace Hardware, Lucy’s Pet Supplies & Feeds, Pariseau’s Printing, Spud Software, and VG’s in Davison.

Thank you pet contest judges “Dr.” Terry Wisner, Mayor Tim Bishop, Davison City Officer Jennings, Davison Township Officer Coon, Judge Mark Latchana, Gretchen Sommer, Miss Davison’s Devyn Omron, and Avery Snyder. Thank you student volunteer Paige Dombrowski for organizing the pet contest and offering to use the Davison Dog Walk as your senior exit project!

Student volunteers from Davison, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Clarkston High Schools, and Oakland University assisted with set up and tear down. Without your help and the help of our family and friends this event would not be possible. And Ellarie Prince what a beautiful voice you have. Thank you for honoring this great country through your singing of the national anthem.

And finally, thank you to the Davison Index for covering local events where "hometown matters"!

Nearly ten years ago this event was created because of two little girls who wanted to donate money from their lemonade and cookie sale to a local animal rescue. This simple act of kindness has grown into a “pawsitive” community event. Looking forward to seeing you all next year at the 9th Annual Davison Dog Walk.

With Sincere Gratitude, Deanna Snyder and Denice Wagner
